Christmas Celebrations

Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend celebrating (if you did) with friends and family.

My holiday celebrating began on Friday, Christmas Eve Eve, where I got together with some of my sorority sisters.  We’ve been celebrating on the night before Christmas Eve for the past several years – it’s certainly a fun tradition!

(side note: I recently darkened my hair and got a long overdue hair cut. No more highlights!)

We each brought an appetizer or a dessert to share, which made for a wonderful assortment of goodies to munch on:

I brought the cheese dip (which I bought at a local grocery store) next to the caramel popcorn. But I never even tried it because I was too busy eating all the other dishes!

And let’s be honest, I spent the majority of my time around the booze:

It’s as if we never left college ;)

Good thing we all spent the night because by midnight we were dancing in the living room and acting crazy – which made for a hilarious night! Somewhere around 3am I fell asleep on the couch with my make up still on, contacts in, and wearing that same outfit above. Yeah, I was a bit drunk.  But it was worth the hangover headache (which was awful). We had a blast!

Christmas Eve

After making a pit stop for some McDonald’s breakfast on my drive home from my friends house (egg mcmuffin, hashbrown and a coffee – hits the spot after a night out by the way), I had to get to work on cleaning my house.  My parents were coming into town to celebrate Christmas with Andy and I.  I think the cleaning did me good though. I forgot about how exhausted I was!

By the time my parents arrived we headed out to Andy’s parent’s place for dinner.

To eat we had turkey, ham, cheesy potatoes, and salad.  Everything was delicious and I filled my plate with seconds of the cheesy potatoes. I also saved room for dessert and had a slice of cheesecake and a cannoli.  Yep - I was filled to the brim!

After eating we all hung out, played some games, and chatted. I’m so happy that Andy and I got to spend time with both of our families together. It’s so much fun when we all hang out!

This was little Claire’s (Andy’s God daughter and niece) first Christmas – she’s such a cutie!!

Christmas Day

My parents spent the night at our place and we spent Christmas day together, just the four of us.

It was a very relaxing day and we all pretty much stayed in our pajamas and relaxed.  It’s my favorite way to spend Christmas Day – relaxing with family!

We spent the morning eating breakfast and opening gifts. The pups were especially excited that they got to open their own gifts with us:

For dinner my parents brought up a ham and made breaded chicken.  Andy and I made the side dishes including green beans, carrots, salad and cheesy potatoes.

I ate mounds of the potatoes. They’re my favorite. Not healthy in the slightest, but delicious!

For dessert we had a pumpkin roll:

This pumpkin roll was amazing (highly recommend it – It’s from Whole Foods) and luckily we have left overs – I’ve been eating it every day!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching Christmas movies including The Holiday and Christmas with the Kranks.

I hope those of you who celebrated had a wonderful holiday filled with fun, family, friends, and plenty of food!

  1. A classic night with college friends must end with makeup on, contacts in, and passing out on an uncomfortable couch! My mom used to make that spinach dip in the bread bowl, looks great!
Your Christmas looks so relaxing, I love just spending the day with the family. What is that pumpkin roll?? looks delish…
